The Washington Nationals fell into last place in the National League East with their fourth straight loss on Tuesday night, losing to the Marlins 11-2. The game was the start of a nine game homestand against three of their division rivals (the Mets and Braves will visit DC after Florida). Jordan Zimmermann allowed two home runs and six total runs over 6.2 innings pitched. Laynce Nix had one of the lone bright spots for the Nats, as he blasted his 12th home run of the season in the loss. It was also announced before the game that the Nationals had acquired OF Jonny Gomes from the Reds for some minor league prospects. He is expected to join the team on Wednesday.
